When a car window shatters, it’s important to replace it as soon as possible. Aside from uncomfortable conditions caused by a broken window (wind, noise, temperatures), a damaged window can obstruct the driver’s ability to see the road and road hazards. Glass Doctor handles your car window repair or replacement in a timely fashion.
Your local Glass Doctor carefully removes the broken car window – rear windshield, passenger door, sunroof, moon roof, quarter glass, etc. – without damaging the vehicle’s paint, bonding surface and interior. A replacement glass is then installed following procedures recommended by the AGSC (Auto Glass Safety Council). Recent models more likely than not have ADAS technologies installed in the front windshield. The specialists at Glass Doctor of Anniston are trained to calibrate the ADAS technologies in your vehicle.
With Glass Doctor, there are no surprises. Our glass repair technicians are highly skilled. We believe in honest, upfront pricing. You won’t be left with hidden fees, just like you won’t be left with any cleanup.

Car Window Repair or Replacement?
Whether your windows need to be repaired or replaced depends on the amount of damage. Typically, car windows need to be replaced rather than repaired. The reason is that side and rear car windows are made using tempered glass. The tempering process, which involves heating the glass to over 600 degrees Celsius, makes the glass much stronger than un-tempered glass. When tempered glass is broken, it shatters into smaller pieces – no large, sharp shards. This makes tempered glass safer but also impossible to repair. Wondering whether your vehicle has tempered or laminated windows? Check the bottom corner of your car windows. You’ll find a small label that indicates if the glass is tempered or laminated. Tempered glass often includes:
Passenger Windows
Back Windshields
Sunroofs
Moon Roofs
Quarter Glass
Car Glass Repair Services
While it’s less common to repair tempered glass, some windows survive with a small scratch or chip. Car glass repair is less expensive than a complete replacement. The process involves removing debris from the damaged area and creating a smooth pathway for a repair resin. The repair resin is then injected, cured and polished for a seamless finish.
Windshield repair is much more common. Unlike car windows, the windshield is made from laminated windshield glass. Laminated glass does not disintegrate like tempered glass. Instead, it remains intact in order to protect the driver and passengers in the event of an accident. We consider several factors when deciding whether to repair or replace your windshield, including the size of the chip and its location.
Glass Doctor works with all major insurance carriers, handling the insurance filing for you. It is advisable to contact your local agent to verify coverage before having your windshield repaired or replaced. Call your local Glass Doctor with any additional questions. We’re available 24/7, seven days a week.
